As announced by Robot Entertainment three months ago, Siege Mode was slated for removal in a future update after it “missed the mark.” As promised, accounts have been reset and DLC and bundles are being refunded with their value in gold plus a generous 50%. According to VP of Production Chris Rippy:
As much as we loved it within the walls of Robot (and that love was definitely shared by a segment of our players), Siege mode was just not raising the bar for fun in Orcs Must Die! Unchained as we had hoped it would. By removing this mode, we’re able to fully focus on bringing back the classic Orcs Must Die gameplay that players thought was missing in OMD!U.
So what’s been added to the game to replace Siege Mode? Plenty: 10 new battlegrounds, including OMD classic Gates of Thuricvod, a prologue feature for new players, weekly challenges, a survival pass for bonus XP and Skulls, a reworking of physics traps, visual effects, and the profile screen, extensive hero revamps, and lots more new options for traps, traits, and general gameplay.
