Just in case you’ve been wondering if you’ll have to dish out money — any money at all — to play Hellgate London 2038, top free to play mmorpg,the answer is apparently “NO”. According to the most recent developer diary, in which the team discusses the game’s progress over the last several weeks, there are literally no plans for monetization. In fact, the developers are rather emphatic on that point.
Something to note: London 2038 will NEVER cost money, will NEVER have anything for purchase, will NEVER have a subscription, will NEVER have a cash shop or money transactions of any kind, PERIOD. This is a passion project for fans, by fans, and has 0 money involved. We are all volunteers, and we want everyone to enjoy the game we remember with out any cost EVER. No one will EVER make money off of this project.
Given how pointed they are about this, it will be interesting to see what the developers do intend to do to at least support the game financially should it warrant things like increased server sizes and the like. That said, it’s a really nice idea and one I hope they can support in the future.
